At Haute Couture Week, I interviewed Étienne Moreau, Master Tailor & Couture Consultant, to gain insight into the silhouettes, colors, and accessories that made this season’s collections unforgettable.
What was the most striking silhouette this season?
The high-volume silhouettes were captivating. Designers like Dior and Saint Laurent embraced oversized proportions, with sculptural hoop skirts and balloon-like outerwear. This trend, often referred to as ‘cocoon dressing,’ offered comfort and personal space, resonating with the current global mood.
Which color palette dominated the runway?
Metallics took center stage. Silver and gold accents lifted the mood at Germanier and Iris Van Herpen, adding a touch of opulence to the collections.
How did accessories enhance the couture ensembles?
Accessories were bold and statement-making. From opera gloves to bold chokers and headpieces with a twist, these elements transformed each outfit into a performance, blurring the line between fashion and art.
How do you see the future of haute couture?
The future lies in sustainability and innovation. While the artistry of couture remains paramount, there’s a growing emphasis on eco-friendly materials and ethical practices, ensuring the longevity of this art form.
